What is Yamuna Body Rolling? YBR is a fitness and therapy practice created by Yamuna Zake, a well-known master body therapist and author of two books on YBR. YBR combines healing, wellness, and injury prevention by using six to ten-inch balls to strengthen, tone, and realign the body as well as improving core strength and releasing restrictions caused by habitual movement patterns.
To practice YBR, you lie over the ball and literally roll out your muscles, almost like dough, following specific routines for all parts of the body. The ball applies traction that creates space around joints and vertebrae and lengthens muscles so they can fully release. YBR is the perfect combination of massage and fitness.
Now you can ease aches and pains, while getting your body into great shape!
Lynn Hocker, licensed massage therapist, certified YBR instructor, and dancer from Sarasota, FL, will be teaching an YBR workshop on Sunday, July 18, 2010 at the Common Ground Theater. Cost is $30 payable by cash/check to Lynn Hocker. Pre-registration is suggested as space is limited. Call 919-812-9740 to reserve a spot!
Monday nights @ 7 to 10 p.m. June 14th – July 5th
Cost: $80
Improvised two person scenes are the essential building blocks of long form improvisation. Creating scenes that work on a consistent basis is crucial, yet oftentimes scenes fall flat or simply are not memorable. This class will strip away the silly and fanciful to focus on the essence of good scenes: Making a connection with your scene partner and reacting truthfully in the moment. You’ll be surprised how scenes come alive when we focus on creating moments that are affecting and realistic and leave our jokes at the door.
This is an advanced scenework class. A background in improvised scenework is required. This class will be capped at 12 students for more personal assessment.
We can only accept cash and checks as payment for this class.
Dan Sipp began improvising in 1988 with Transactors Improv Company and has taught improvisation for over 10 years. In 1998 he moved to Chicago where he studied, performed and directed for eight years. He is a graduate of The Annoyance and The iO (formerly ImprovOlympic) training centers and has studied with such improv luminaries as Paul Sills, Del Close, Charna Halpern, Mick Napier, Joe Bill and The Second City. He now runs The Worx Training Center in Raleigh.

Why so cheap? We don’t have the same overhead as a studio and can charge quite a bit less per session because of this. We also don’t offer some of the amenities of a studio- practitioners must bring their own mats and props. But beyond that we believe yoga is a necessity, not a luxury.
